Kailash MansarovarYatra Via Kerung is a sacred pilgrimage to the foot of Mount Kailash. The mountain is sacred for Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Bons. This Yatra is the ultimate journey Shiva Bhakta as it takes them close to the domicile of their beloved Lord Mahadev. For Jains, Kailash Parvat is Mount Ashtapada, the place where their guru Rishabhadev attained moksha.
Mount Kailash located in far western of Tibet, also regarded as Mount Meru (the center of the universe) by Buddhists. This place is the place where the Buddhist saint Milarepa meditated and defeated the Bon priest Naro Bon-Chung. Kailash is the 'axis mundi' or the point connecting the earth to the heavens for Practitioners of the Bon Religion.
Kailash MansarovarYatra begins in Kathmandu with a ‘darshan’ at the holy Pashupatinath Temple. We drive in a private vehicle from Kathmandu to the Nepal-China border. On entering Tibet, we will meet our Tibetan guide and driver who will guide us to our destination.
Drive through the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and arrive at Lake Manasarovar. The holy lake shines as a blue jewel surrounded by snow-capped peaks. We can be meditating and performing puja on the bank of the holy lake and go towards Darchen (4600m)
You will start your Kailash Parikrama journey from Tarboche. It takes four days to walk around the sacred mountain. We complete the Parikrama on foot or hire a horse or pony to take us around the mountain. During the hike, we get a darshan of Kailash Parvat's four faces. The CharanSparsh hike will bring us to the foot of the north face of Mount Kailash. Only the blessed, and the lucky get to touch the foot of the holy mountain. It is indeed a divine experience and can feel the strong spiritual energy walking close to the mountain.
The last leg of the Parikrama leads us to the high mountain pass- Dolma La(5,670m), the highest point of our journey. Once our Parikrama is complete drive back to Saga and return to Kathmandu via the same route. ManasarovarYatra involves long hours of overland travel and hiking at high altitudes, thus we need to be physically fit to undertake this journey. We recommend you to start your preparation for this trip at least two months in advance
